New Georgia mini owner
My name is Stephen and this past weekend I bought my first mini. It’s a highly used 2003 R50 with 157 thousand miles. Not very loved for the past few years so I got a great deal. The interior was extremely filthy. The cabin filter was completely clogged. They hit something with the right front tire so there is a distinctive clunk in the right front suspension. The AC works but not all that great. The TPMS light was on but I reset it and got it to go out. The airbag light is on, numerous codes because they removed the cat. Runs good, idles really bad.
I bought it to flat tow behind our motorhome. I pulled the seats out and have them cleaned up along with the back seat. I have all the center pieces pulled to remove the carpet but can’t get the plastic piece out that the gas pedal attaches too. I will pressure wash the carpet and put it back in. Clean up everything and then reinstall. There are a few things I will replace just to make it a lot nicer looking.
Once I am done with the inside my plans are to go thru it and do a good tune up, plugs, wires, oil and filter, Fuel filter, air filter. Then replace anything that could fail, the fuel pump, AC system, starter. New exhaust and probably a new throttle body. Leaning towards a new timing chain, harmonic balancer, belt, tensioner. Then drop the lower frame and figure out what the heck is going on there. Not going to be a daily driver but I want it reliable and safe.
