A new Mini coming to Vegas

Hi all, this is my first post to the NAM board. I have wanted a Mini from the first time I saw the sticker ads in Car and Driver several years ago. I’m a die hard BMW fanatic from way back and have own too many of them. My last car was a pristine ’91 E30 M3 (the real M3) but I had to sell it to buy a house here in Vegas. After reviewing many articles and reading hundreds of threads, I made a decision to get a new mid year 05 MCS. I have been to the Mini dealer here in town and have worn my welcome out because I have not bought a car from them. I was not about to pay the 2.5K “Troll Toll” (dealer mark-up) over MSRP they are charging just to get on the order list or even buy somebody else’s pre-ordered car. I spent an afternoon in October calling every west coast dealer and inquiring about their waiting time and dealer mark-up over MSRP. The best deal I found was at Mini of Murry in Utah. I send them a 2k earnest money deposit to get on the list that was only 2-3 months long. I got a call from my MA, Juan Coles, the day before Thanksgiving which was 7 weeks after my deposit and he said it’s time to place my order. I asked him what the build date would be and he said December. I told him I wanted a post December build and he said I’ll call you next month, which he did. Last Saturday I placed an order and will be getting this:

Chili Red/White Roof

Premium

Sport

Convenience

LS Differential

Tartan Red Seats

Chrome Interior

Anthracite interior including the headliner

Navigation system

H/K

Dealer Options:

Aero Kit

Checkered sunroof/mirrors

Invisishield for the front end

Carbon Fiber Dash

I do not have a production date yet but I’m guessing late Jan/early Feb. Mini USA owners lounge shows the car on order. I look forward to posting pictures or suppling any information I may have for fellow NAMers. I’m hoping the car will deliver before the AMVIV although I won’t really be on vacation here. Quik, no need to pay troll tax! Mini of Murray is a good choice. You can fly up to SLC and pick up the coop and have a great break-in drive home. Of course it's not gonna give you the total break-in miles but it will be a good start.

After digging through the html... It looks like you've got a sweet ride! The anthracite interior is a good choice. I love it in mine. The tartan red will look great with the CR.

Watch for the announcements about our Las Vegas MINI meets. We meet in LV once a year and it's a good meet for everyone.

Enjoy, the wait, we've (mostly) all been there.

Dont pay over MSRP.. MINI of Murray is great, thats where I purchased mine because I did not want to pay California mark-up. I've had all of my service done in vegas with no problems. Buy in Utah, Karen Johnson is great to work with

Congrats on your order! I'm in a similar dilemma up here in the NW and I'm planning on ordering a MCS for late April/early May delivery. How long will your total wait time be from deposit to delivery? I'm pretty much set with ordering through Classic MINI in Cleveland but if Murray can get me one in my timeframe, I would consider going through them instead.

Were there any extra fees involved? I know several dealers back east that claim to sell at MSRP but then they add markup disguised as "processing" fees.

like I mentioned above, I had to put a 2k deposit to get on the list. Juan Coles(MA) told me it would be a 6 month wait till I had one to drive. I contacted him the first week of Oct and could have put in an order the third week of Nov. The only fee associated with this deal is a DMV fee of ~ $350. That's it.
