Been lurking a long time, but figured I should go ahead and join up after my wife and I have decided to hang on (and perhaps add on!) to our R53. We initially bought ours as a fun city runabout and secondary vehicle, but I've since put in some effort to get it back to much better running condition. The 'ol girl's currently at 188k, with many more miles to go. I am a photographer and enthusiast, so the combo of practicality, fun, decent fuel economy, and relatively easy maintenance makes it a no brainer (IMO. I did a C5 clutch+trans on jackstands, so a supercharger swap really isn't too bad)
For reference, a few cars I've had: NA6 Miata, 500 Abarth, C5 Corvette, 986 Boxster S, Fiat 124 Sport Coupe (CC), Several early import DSMs, Acura Vigor (5spd!), Sedan DeVille, the list goes on...
This forum has been an awesome resource for troubleshooting and finding solutions, if I can add to the community, I'd be glad to! Thank you!
Welcome! I can't wait to see what you have planned. I just picked my first one up as well with 171k miles and ordered a bucket of parts to repair all of the leaks and the suspension and such. It should be a good time.
Awesome! Yeah, I couldn't believe that the original shocks/struts were on our car; it explained a lot! GL with the repairs! HMU if you have questions, though the posts on here are really informative. A good impact driver went a long way to getting the original parts off.
