"Upgraded" to an '06 R53
Hello all,
I'm happy to finally join NAM instead of just reading all the helpful insight you all have.
Two years ago I purchased an '02 R53 and loved every bit of the way it drives. The car was great, unfortunately the interior/exterior had seen better days, being a Texas car the sun did its job on the paint and plastics. The car also had a minor parasitic draw that I could never 100% track down, but the drivetrain was still strong at only 80k miles, and I've since put 15k miles on the car, added a 15% pulley, installed a Quaife LSD, and pulled the trigger on the Bytetronik FA53 and 550cc injectors with intentions of getting it tuned.
After being so happy with the way the car drove/handled, I was still unhappy with the interior/exterior not matching the performance. Queue the upgrade to an 06' R53 with a blown engine. This car has ~100k miles on it, and I knew just the car to swap the power train from. This past weekend I swapped the engine/trans from the 02' to the 06' after watching ModMini's engine removal video about a dozen times. I was aware of the minor differences between the two (vacuum lines, etc.), but nothing that wouldn't allow the swap to work. Or so I thought... In light of rambling, I'll move what happened next to a new thread.
Thank you all in advance for the welcome!
