New Member/Engine failure code

Good morning,

I am new to this forum and I am a proud owner of a 2010 Mini Cooper S. This wasn't my first choice as a commuter car but when I finally drove it, I was impressed. It handled really well and has plenty of power. I installed a K@N cold air intake and up graded the wheels and tires. Not sure if anyone else is having this issue but when I decided to, lets say drive a little "above" the speed limit, the engine failure light comes on. It stays lit for a couple of on/off cycles and then it goes off. I've noticed this more often now as the car has 130xxx miles but has been very well maintained. Oil changes as directed, new plugs and all the other "needed" services. When the last engine failure appeared I took it into a local mechanic shop to do a quick diagnostic and nothing appeared. No codes?? Can someone shed some light on this? Thank you in advance.

I have found that many of this vintage turbo Mini's burn up the intake hose, where it fastens to the turbo and starts leaking, then throws the dreaded code! A silicone replacement hose will last a long time! (not saying this is your trouble, but a typical problem on your model.

Get a good scan tool like the schwaben tool. I bet there are codes, the shop just cant see them with there tool. Thats where i would start. + 1 those hoses crack and walk off the turbo inlet. My 2007 MCS hose cracked.
