Engine management system
I'm the dumbest fella here, in this arena, but even I know that OBD II defines the industry specification, and that spec includes extensibility. Systems that abide by the core ODB II spec are compatible, but each manufacturer uses the extensions as intended, and therefore the software used must understand the specific usage of the standard by each manufacturer.
Which just means, nope not NAPA, and probably yep Mini Mania.
Caveat emptor,
Charlie

I have a commercial pro system, but I also have a Blue driver, that I purchased on Amazon for $99 and works with a smart phone. It is a great tool, that I carry with me, whenever I am on the road. Works with most cars out there that need OBD2
It works great and helps you to find where to look for your specific problem.
More exclusive is the BMW specific Icarsoft OBD2 scanner (which I keep in my Mini)
