Recently purchased used 2008 Clubman. I guess the adventure is just starting. There is so much valuable information and insights on this site. I think if you look up post purchase dissonance, you will see a picture of a great looking Mini and a link to this site with random topics popping up in rotation... (FRM, Window Anti Pinch, Timing Chain, Battery Registry, Etc...)
Still glad I found one, I think. Won't be the first time a guy is distracted by a shiny object.
Once again, thanks to all the folks that created and keep up this site.
Not really too far from PA. A few states over in Rhode Island.
The "if you have a pulse and pay check" dealership wouldn't have been my first choice to find a Mini, but the condition of the car outweighed the "buying" experience.
It was the first time I had to test drive a car with the salesman as a passenger. Made me think of an old movie with Kurt Russell - Used Cars. I'm glad I got the car out of there when I did. They had the all the windows painted in glass wax with price and all sorts of "Artistic Creations". Who knows what the next level of marketing might have been. Hey, I got a free razor blade to scrape a hole to see out of the windshield.
If cars have consciousness, I hope this one appreciates me for getting it out of there???
Oops. I thought the fuel price in the background started with a 1. I assumed it was a price per liter and therefore not in the US.
I bought my MINI from a similar dealer. I had the same thoughts. Mine had 13,000 miles at the time.
I have been to Rhode Island once. It is a beautiful State. I visited the “house” my grandmother spent summers when she was young, next door to the Breakers. (The family brought 17 Irish maids from their Baltimore house to their Rhode Island house each summer.)
