My Maiden Voyage on NAM...
My Maiden Voyage on NAM...
Hi all,
I first saw NAM a couple weeks ago while looking for info about our new Mini. My wife and I found our Mini (Mini Hombre) through assuming somebody's lease. We picked up Hombre through a lease assumption website. It's an '03 CVT and only had 3,700 miles on it! Anyway, the Mini was the obvious choice when comparing it to other vehicles in the same lease range.
I must say, I am stoked on this...fine piece of motoring nirvana. We live in Orlando and the Mini was located up in NY. So 4 weeks ago we flew up to NY and motored back home with a brief stop in High Point, NC. It was a trip full of memories! It's not hard to believe that my first speeding ticket in 8 years came while behind the wheel of this engineering marvel. It so easy for me to get absorbed in the motoring experience that I loose all sense of what's happening behind me.
From the first time I imagined getting a mini, I was hooked. Now that I have one, life as I knew it, is now over. I will forever have a mini.
As for you NAMers, I appreciate all those who've contributed to NAM as it gets me fired up about the possibilities of elevating my motoring experience, though it is not lacking now. It's great to see the sense of community and comaraderie between everybody. Also, I look forward to participating in it whenever possible! Thanks for the stellar vision.
Forever Motoring,
Mini Hombre

Mini Hombre,
Aloha and welcome to NAM.
Good to hear from you, sounds like you're having some "speedy" fun.
Just be safe and not too speedy.
See if you can find and link up with MINI clubs in your area- that should be quite good. Your nearest dealership might know how to contact the club or check out the regional forums on NAM.
Have fun motoring.

Chow!

Bwahahahahahaha! Another Hombre sucked into the MINI-cult! Welcome!
You are correct, friend! Your life is forever changed! Be sure to check out the regional forums here on NAM. There are LOTS of MINI folk in FL! I go there several times a year to visit them!

And, btw, a LOT of us...ahem...have "earned" our first speeding tickets in years in our new MINIs....!!!

Congrats!
It's so awesome to read posts by people like you who have just gotten their cars! It reminds me of how excited I was to get mine, which was (hard to believe) 2 years and 22,000 miles ago! And it reminds me of how much fun my drive home will be, just like it is every day, because the fun of the MINI trumps the crappiness of the Boston traffic and Boston drivers!
Welcome to the fold. Say goodbye to your pre-NAM existence, because this place sucks you in big time...
Chris
P.S. Do the brake light mod ASAP! You can search for it on the forums here.

You make NAM sound like a "black hole"!
You'll be safe. Just watch at a distance...
maybe 6 feet from your computer monitor ought to do it.
Oh yeah, change the font size in your explorer or browser to "extra humongous".
