Not so fantastic a start

Hi Folks, Mini noob here. Although, after replacing the clutch, flywheel, shift fork (cracked!), thermostat and both main seals, I don't feel so new...!
Anyway, I was hoping my intro to Mini would be just some garage time, plastic fastener hell, and elbow grease, and then I'd be enjoying my R56!
Not so. Seems I have an intermittent fault with the coolant sensor, throws 1F2A, after two different sensors, and then runs like crap. I'll carry the question and what I've done already into the technical posts, but that's my intro to Mini, and now to this group!
Looking forward to getting this thing Rx'd and out driving.
'08 Cooper S,Chili w/ black roof/stripes, 67k miles.
Cheers!
