Old (?) member; new Mini....

Appears I joined back in 2006 and then when I didn't get a Mini I just kind of faded away.

Twelve years from joining the forum to finally getting a new Mini is probably some kind of record, but better late than never.

On Dec. 27 bought a 2018 Mini John Cooper Works Hardtop 2-door, 6-speed, rebel green.

How do I like car? Meh. It is ok.

Just kidding. The thing's fantastic. What a great car.

Let me try a pic...

Nobody is old here, we are all enlightened.

Great looking car. The only bad thing about having pictures here is if you don't have a napkin to wipe the drool of your face.

The good stuff... Surprisingly the engine appears to favor Shell V-Power. With other car engines I could not notice any difference between Shell V-Power and Chevron Supreme, other than after nearly a tank of Chevron -- this after a couple of years of almost always Shell -- my Boxster engine perked up.

Spoke to some Porsche techs about this and they confirmed this is a real benefit to running Chevron Supreme. One tech told me that even so he prefers to use V-Power in his VW Golf GTi and Jetta with the 6-cylinder engine because the engines make a bit more power with V-Power. Oh, he'll run a tank of Supreme once in a while for the benefit of Techron but most of the time he'll run V-Power for the extra power.

Based on my early experience I may do the same. After a tank or so of Shell V-Power in the JCW I filled up with Chevron Supreme and the engine felt a bit down on power. Nothing earth shattering but it was noticeable.

When the fuel tank is run down a good ways I'm filling the tank up with V-Power and see if I can notice the difference. If I do then I'll run Shell most of the time.
