New to me Mini owner - questions

just picked up my 2015 Countryman JCW. WOW, what a blast! But like every new vehicle owner I’m in a rush to get everything set up, but sorry to say my first day has been a bust. First issue is the iPhone 6s+ which, like others, works well on Bluetooth but I haven’t been able to figure out how to connect via cable. The USB on the console doesn’t work and I haven’t had any luck finding a cable to fit in the connection in the arm rest. It’s probably ‘operator error’ but definitely not as user friendly as my Acura. I then went on to the universal garage opener. I have turned myself upside down looking for the bottoms on the review mirror but have yet to discover them. Am I missing something? Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Welcome to NAM. I will get your posting on line but then suggest that you post something in the CM Subforum. Some of us, myself included, with Gen1 cars do not have some of the comfort options you have. Our cars are so old that we have a dixie cup and a string for our in-car telephone.

Welcome to the forum

I'm a relativity new owner myself and for much of what you said I've found in the owners manual. If you don't have it, check the Mini site to download a copy.

Thanks for the reply

yes, I’m reading the manual. Regarding the garage door opener it only refers to the 3 buttons on the mirror, but I’m still unable to find them and I’m thinking they should be fairly obvious when you run your hand around the mirror. Thought perhaps this function might not be an option, but the manual seems to indicate this feature comes with all vehicles in the series. As for the phone connection, it’s a work in progress. If all else fails I’ll call the salesman to see if he can help.

I don’t believe the HomeLink mirror is a standard option, unfortunately. If you have it, there are three buttons on the bottom of the left hand side of the mirror and a compass direction that displays on the right side while you’re driving.

Thanks all for your help. I did speak to the dealer today and he also confirmed that not all JCW have the Homelink. He also said that the ‘Y’ connection cable, which is sold by BMW/Mini, should solve the problem connecting my phone.
