Excited to be here!

Hi all! Im new so I just wanted to say hi and thanks for having me. I have a 2010 Mini S Hardtop, red with double bonnet stripes. I know next to NOTHING about cars so I'm excited to learn from others and become more involved with the community that is MINI!

I do have 2 immediate issues that I would love advice on. 1st, I just had the clutch replaced at the dealership (and now I know better...) but now I have no cold AC. Put it on max AC and only getting hot air. Taking back to the dealership tomorrow but I wanted to know what might be the issue before they try to give me the run around because it worked fine before the clutch replacement.

2nd, I keep getting a missfire in the 2nd cylinder, even after I and the dealership replaced the coil (so bad coil has been ruled out) and I have no clue what's causing it. Any help is greatly apprecited.

On a side note, I really don't want to go to the dealership anyone for service because I just feel i can't trust them not to rip me off so any advice on where to look for good, honest work would also be greatly appreciated.

thank you in advance for any help sand thanks again for having me.

Welcome to NAM.

On the AC, without some gauge readings not too easy to know what the issue is other than an internal damper issue. On the skipping, if we had some codes would help with long distance diagnosis. You do have the N14 engine that there is an immense amount of information here on.

Should have some Gen2 folks chiming in here.

Thanks for the response. Call me paranoid but I guess Im more inclined robelieve that the dealership forgot to hook something back up when they were putting the car back together from swapping out the clutch. It's just too much of a coincidence for me for the air conditioning to stop working after bringing it to a shop. My limited understanding about replacing a clutch is that a lot of parts need to be removed so I'm wondering if they simply forgot to put a belt back on that connects it to the condenser for the air conditioning?

Welcome.

On the clutch, they should not have been near the ac belt. But who knows. Maybe they pinched a wire on reinstall of the clutch. I would get those both checked out at that dealership, they did the work so it's under them for the fix if they touched it in the first place. Otherwise, you will pay someone else again to fix it.

Good luck and check out the Gen 2 section, fixes.

Hi and welcome to NAM!
The miss is a common issue with the N14 engine. It can be many things!
It is imperative to only use high octane fuels in this car. The valves will go away, if you do not follow this advice.
The N14 engine has issues with carbon build up in the intake ports, which will starve the engine for air.
