New California Mini Owner

Hi Y'all,

We bought our first MINI back in May but I'm just now joining the forum. We were looking for a car to tow behind our RV but fell in love with our 2017 MINI Cooper S Hardtop 4 door with the premium package and STEPTRONIC Automatic transmission. So fun to drive and we love the LED lighting too! And we bought the touring bike racks for the top for bike outings. That is a great setup!

I greeted with "Y'all" because now we have decided to move to Atlanta to be close to our kids... which is a big change for us, being native Californians! But we are excited for the change.

I still haven't figured out how to tow the MINI behind the RV. Just bought a two wheel tow dolly but now trying to figure out if I can prevent the MINI from always locking the steering column. But I'll post a question on that elsewhere.

Anyhow, I'm glad to be here and greatly appreciate all of the knowledge the members of this forum have! Following are a couple of pics.

Thanks!
Don

Welcome to NAM, great car for the "errands" while cruising in the RV.

On the towing, don't know if the steering lock is an electronic solenoid or not. Might be able to disconnect the battery which will remove the locking pin. If you go the battery route, disconnect the negative terminal not the positive. On the newer models there may be a fuse for the ignition system as well. On the Gen1, that fuse is a PIA to get to.

Welcome to NAM, Don! I like to tow with all 4 wheels off the ground, personally. Just because you aren't driving it doesn't mean it isn't putting "wear and tear" onto it. Otherwise, your dealer might know the best or your owners manual might say something about towing. I am here if you ever need anything for it!
