New from NoVA

Howdy all,

I recently picked up a new-to-me 2009 MINI Cooper S with just over 50k miles. It was sad to see my 21-year-old pickup go, but this go-kart has been a blast so far! This message board and others were very handy in preparing me for what I might expect as a new MINI/ R56 owner, and figured now would be a good time to say "hi!"

The first thing I did when I bought the car was to replace the mismatched set of Continental run-flats (two of which were probably original from 2008 ) with a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ 195/55R16 tires, tossing a 15" spare in the back for good measure. I also got a great deal on a CCC navigation system that I plan to retrofit, so am gathering the last bits to install that, as well as reverse and front cameras. Will post those adventures once I learn more about coding. I also built a simple DIY cup holder cellphone mount and will create a write-up to share with the forum.

Looking forward to all of the fun times to be had and the learning to be done!

Welcome to NAM.

You can find an immense amount of information here on your car between the threads, the members and the vendors. In the R56 folder in Gen2 there are close to 10,000 threads and if you are into mods, another 1,500 plus in the Gen2 Mod Drivetrain section.

Thanks for the welcome and comments! I did draft a write-up on my DIY cup holder cellphone mount over in the general forum, but it said something about requiring moderator approval. Once that's posted, I'll be happy to share the link here!
