Hello....again!

Hello all,

Back in the Mini fold with my recent purchase of an 09 clubman S. (77K miles) I have owned two previous Minis. 03 and an 08 cooper S. I really stumbled across this one. Went looking for a countryman at a local dealer and found this one languishing in the back lot covered in dirt. Started to sniff around and became pleasantly surprised when I found a stack of service receipts in the glove compartment from Schomp Mini. Everything I was concerned about when buying a used 2009 had been addressed within the last 15 or 20k miles. new timing chain, new HP fuel pump, thermostat housing, new brakes and rotors, new tires, brand new clutch to include replacing the slave and master cylinders. All fluids flushed regularly. I felt like I had won the used car lottery. I carefully replaced the paperwork and kept my best poker face on when the dealer informed me that they had dropped the price to get it sold or it was going to auction. (It had been on the lot for 6 months)
I started it up and after a bit, a nice plume of smoke rose from the turbo.....Being an aircraft mechanic I quickly realized the oil line to the turbo needed retorqued or the copper gaskets replaced...no big deal, but it did give me a bit of leverage with the dealer on the price.

Did the deal and out the door I went. $9900 plus tax...I'm happy with that price..right at book...

I have one question (right now anyway ) What the hell happened to the Mini wave? I'm starting to feel like an idiot waving at other Mini's and getting no response... I have received all of one singular wave back after 20 or 30 tries. (To that one person in the red Cooper S, Thanks)

I'll post up a picture as soon as I get the rims plasti dipped black and replace a bit of trim on the hood. Turbo oil line was sorted in about 1 minute with a torque wrench...

Good to be back...

PS This one will be named Kevin according to my daughters. (From the Minions....)

John

What happened to the Mini Wave? We live in a 1st world country of consumers that have no earthly idea of what a Mini Wave is, lol. Unless they take the time to educate themselves about the history of the brand or are enthusiast, we aint getting no flashing high beams, a wave or anything from them.

Now about that poker face and getting the deal done, that was epic. Awesome job. Cheers and congratulations.
