hey guys i need a new ecu/dme im going to try purchase a used 1 for my r53 which part numbers need to be compatible? on the ecu theres a partial number with the vin and above theres the 1214 7520019-01. which do i need to pay attention to?
and where the best place to find 1? also will i need the immobilizer ? your advice is highly appreciated
You can't just install a used DME, it needs to match VIN numbers and be properly coded to the car.
There are some vendors online who offer the ability to do that with a used DME, but I would recommend just buying a new DME that is ready to bolt in. It still requires final coding and updating to work, so you still need to find an indy shop that has dealer level computer capabilities.
Thanx for the info. But a new dme is costly and above my budget. I bought the car used and trying to restore it as cost efficient as possible . Can you recommend any shops or sellers that have the ecu and can code it according to my vin
