Hello from Central Arizona
Hello from Central Arizona
I'm a new member of this enthusiastic group of MINI owners having purchased the 2013 MCS shown below a few days ago. This is my first MINI and actually my smallest car since selling former 1974 Alfa Romeo GTV many years ago after having owned that nearly 25 years since new. Although this is my first, I'm certainly familiar with the original "classic" and still have an original Cooper S sales brochure from circa 1967/1968. I had friends that owned them back in the mid-60's (I'm old
) when often referred to as "shoebox" cars and always enjoyed watching them during regional/national events when I was an SCCA turn marshal in those days.
Although I actually had been shopping for a low mileage 1-owner 2006 MCS with manual gearbox, the reality is that nearly all are high mileage now with resulting road carnage from 10+ years of use which didn't suit me. Here in AZ, nearly all newer cars are traded in for sales tax advantage (net $$ difference after trade allowance factored), so ended up with this one which was a lease turn-in the day before with just under 18k miles in pristine overall condition (eligible for CPO extended warranty).
As my chosen username might imply, this MINI will strictly be for fun with no need for commuting in my retirement stage of life. Ironically, the F-150 shown next to it (MAXI vs MINI) only has 5400 miles since new nearly 2 years ago (special ordered with Raptor 6.2L motor
). That truck is really too big to be practical as a local grocery-getter, so its reserved for road trips with travel trailer in tow. My old 2000 Jeep TJ trail rig (owned 17 years since new) is now relegated to outside parking between weekly club trail runs so as to keep the MINI protected.
