The first time...

Well, for us new MINI owners, I want to ask:

What was it like the first time you slid into your new car and felt the steering wheel in your hands?

That first u-turn and I was back at the dealer in under 4 minutes total test drive time negotiating to buy it. That took a few hours, but I drove it home.

Heh. When we did our test drive last Friday, we got into the car and before the salesman could even say anything, I said, "I know what path I want to take."

First I drove through our neighborhood (we live less than 2 1/2 miles from the dealership), to get a feel for day-to-day driving that we'll do. Then I hit the interstate and had it up to 80 before I was even out of the merge lane. Finally, I took a little back road that has some 15 mph turns that I was taking at near 40 mph and zooming over little rolls in the road giving that

We bought a 2002 MINI Cooper from MINI of Gothenburg, Sweden, and had it shipped to the US under US Customs' T.I.B. regulations. It was the first new car I'd ever had. I drove it around the Dundalk Marine Terminal's parking lot before trailering the not-street-legal car back to Philly. This was December of 2001.
