New to the Mini World

Hello All,

Just wanted to introduce myself. We just bought a 2009 Mini Cooper S this week and I already have the mod bug. I come from a long line of FBody ownership (5 Camaros and a Firehawk) with our current other cars being a 2012 Camaro SS (Mine), 2006 Charger Daytona R/T (Wife's), 1995 Dodge Ram 4x4 lifted (son's mudding truck).

The car was really for my daughter that just got her learner's permit, but I'm quickly getting attached to it and already looking to make changes.

Thanks and any pointers for a newb to the mini world would be appreciated. Free mods? Best vendors? Best performance upgrades? etc. etc. We are in Katy/Houston. Just in a few days of lurking around here has already opened my eyes to the potential.

David and family

Welcome to the Mini Community. I'm on my second Mini and this community has been so helpful for me. The vendors that are most active here are top notch. I personally have had fantastic experiences with ECS Tuning, Way Motor Works, Outmotoring and Pelican Parts to name a few.

I came over from the R53 Supercharged Mini S to a newer R56 2012 Mini S. My advice with your new Mini is to keep the oil and filter fresh and monitor the spark plugs. I'm sure others will add important tips too.

I might also recommend BG 44K fuel treatment as a first step too.

Welcome! There are a bunch of good mods for your car. A good place to start is a rear swaybar, which will make your handling even better. Coming from an F body, I bet you're liking the cornering of your MCS.
