04 Mini Cooper base model CVT gone bad

Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and have been a victim of the infamous CVT gone bad. My car is a 2004 Mini Cooper base model.
I was looking around and found many post on going to a 6speed Getrag and the success stories.
There is a lot of info on how to get the swap done and I was wondering if anyone has done it with a 6speed from a 2007 mini cooper s?
Someone has offered me the transmission and all the computer harness, ecu, pedals, and pretty much all the parts I would need in exchange for helping them swap the engine in their Mini S. He bought a flipped 2007 Mini Cooper S and it had low mileage and runs, so all he needs is the engine, I get the rest.
Any advice?

I have seen a lot of negative write ups about going this route, but I have all the parts except maybe the drive axles at this point and was wondering if I should pursue it. I also get the option to have his old 2008 Mini Cooper S engine and fix the Timing chain issue where it rumbles. The engine is running but will need the Timing chain and chain guides replaced.
So, that being said I would also have a cooper S in a 2004 base shell.

The 2007 R56 manual transmission has a different part number and Getrag model designation than the 2001 - 2006 R53.
The ECU is different as well. I'd ask Way Motor Works as they have done a number of these CVT -> 6-speed conversions.

If the donor is a R52 2007 MCS Convertible, then you may be in luck.

Thanks for the input. I think I will just find a Getrag from an 04-06 and keep my sanity.
