New member with troubles

Hi all, I have a 2010 Conv S that is great and can discuss all of the issues I had fixed on this one. But for now need help with a new issue. I had the fabric of the conv top replaced as the "rub" issues were getting bad and Mini finally paid the dealer to replace 11/12. Now I have a retract problem where it seems like a small horizontal piece of plastic (passenger side) that is sewn into the fabric of the top is broken and the roof will not work. Showed it to dealer and now their take is that the frame is bent and that negates the warranly so I get to buy a frame and new top, roughly 6K?? Anyone have this issue on the top or found a fix? Oh Yeah, I did not bend the frame. Thanks for reading.

I'm generally a PITA and if it were me, I'd be addressing this with the installer. If they installed the new fabric top, it's their problem if the piece that caused the issue is "sewn in" to the replacement top. Just sayin'.

Go after the installer if you can establish causation on their part. Small claims courts generally handle civil claims up to $10,000, so you might urge them to take care of the problem up front. Otherwise, you can litigate the matter without counsel in small claims court. I would not eat the expense of a $6,000 ragtop if I had a ghost of a chance in establishing fault on their part. Seek an outside opinion of a similar top installer and take it from there. You didn't cause the problem.
