Hi
Just joined the forum yesterday. Great site.
We have a 2004 Cooper that we bought new and now has 95,000k on it.
This is one of the few winters "the brat" has been used. She's realy been spoiled, spending most of her life in a air conditioned / heated garage.
My wife uses it most of the time and she's now starting to act up (the car not the wife).
Just today for example she phoned me from up north to say she couldn't get the car out of park (automatic trany). Luckily, my diagnostic was right. She had encountered deep fluffy snow going in the driveway just before turning the car off. I told her to put a blanket over the hood, start the car and let it run for 30 minutes or so with the heater on high. It worked. Sure enough the linkage had frozen when the snow melted from the warm and then re-frozen over night.
Wish all fixes where that simple.
Will be posting problem threads in the future.
I've added 2 pictures (if I've done it right)
Oh ya, saw a tread asking for people who've had prolems with the door locks. The trunk lock was replaced under warrenty, but the drivers door won't lock or unlock except with the key. Started about 3 years ago.
regards
Derek K
