Hey folks.

Just picked up my SO R56 MCS (think I got those all right). Black bonnet stripes with white pinstripes on them. My wife and I are moving from VA to CA at the end of the summer; traded in my 2003 Chevy S-10 since we won't be needing a truck after we leave the farm.

I'm looking forward to taking it cross-country in a few months. Until then, I've got the usual share of questions. I'm sure some have been addressed elsewhere (I've just started digging into the boards) but am open to any pointers...

1. Best initial performance (MPG) upgrades?
2. What do people do with the CD player? I haven't played a CD in a car for years. If I remove the player, is there a better use for the space?
3. I will likely be hauling a bike from time to time. Instead of roof mounting, I like the idea of hitch mounts...especially with the versatility of being able to tow or haul something. Any tips on hitches, etc.?
4. My 1st gen iPAD is getting ready to retire and I figure it would make a great GPS and music player solution. How unwieldy is it to mount one in the cockpit? Any tips?

I'm sure I will have lots more questions, but I'm looking forward to learning all sorts of good stuff from you folks...
