Good evening! I am Hodge, I live in Lumberton,NC (located south of Fayetteville). I own a 2006 mini cooper, mid-night blue (most people think its black). I look forward to learning more about my car. I have owned it for three (3)years but was made aware of this site today while having my oil service in Myrtle Beach, SC.

What's the deal with the Mini Transmissions? Never knew there was a problem with them. I was told I will soon need one, they are costly to say the least.

 

The 6 Speed Getrag on the MCS has been bulletproof and the Aisin Automatic on the MCS has stood the test of time and on the early (pre-04) MC the Midlands 5 Speed was questionable, but later replaced with the durable Getrag 5 Speed. Now the bad news is the 02-06 MC automatic is well known to implode too soon and replacements run from $5-7K.
