Painted Calipers

Is there a kit to paint calipers or does everyone just visit the local Pep Boyz, O Reilly's or Napa? I'm also curious if there are Mini decals to place on the calipers after painting. Cheers, Jim

www.tirerack.com sells the G2 kit for $38 + shipping. Kinda high but I just did mine in gloss black and they came out great. Kit includes cleaner, paint, and a foam brush but I used a 1/2 in brisell brush.

Go to http://soopercooperinfo.com/ and 'contact us'. He has a link to an outfit that will do custom labels for brake calipers at a very reasonable price. I thought I had it but it got away from me.

Most local auto shops carry caliper paint kits in red and black. I purchased a kit with yellow paint for my girlfriends MINI off amazon.

Great caliper paint feedback. I can't wait for the rain to stop so I can get this going. Since my car is charcoal grey I think I'm going to go the blue route.

Autozone. I used engine enamel paint on my last car''s calipers and it held up very well. Had the car 4 years. I don't see the point in spending more than what those spray cans cost. Plus, they have an array of colors. I used purple I don't know what my calipers will be for this car though.

I wonder if O'Reillys carries the paint for the calipers. I'm not sure if Alameda has a Napa Parts store.

O'Reilley's or Autozone has caliper paint. Autozone might be a better bet, since they have more options.

There is a huge difference between crappy Duplicolor caliper paint, and G2. The G2 is a 2 part epoxy paint the will be very durible, the Duplicolor it just just paint, and will not last.

Decals, If you are looking for JCW decals, I don't have the link, but, go to Ebay and search with "Brake caliper decal to fit Mini Cooper S" . As the original Gen 1 JCW calipers are rare to come by I'm thinking seriously of using R56 calipers, painting them and using these decals to add the finishing touch!

I used dupli-color on my last car. Had the car 4 years and I never had to maintain the paint.
