my dealer is now setting all minis to 8000 miles oil/filter change interval

the service writer told me it is the "new standard"

my dad bought an ex-demo used 09/2011 build 2012 cms all4 with 2,500 miles 2 weeks after i took delievery of my 03/2012 buils cms all4

his car was set to 15,000 oringinally, but set to 8,000 after the dealer changed the oil/filter at 1 year at just over 8,000 miles (i changed the oil/filter the day after he took delivery and again at 4,500 miles)

my 03/2012 build was set to 9,000 miles originally, set to 8,000 after my first dealer change at just under 8,000 miles (OBC had counted down to zero) ... i changed oil/filter twice before that, after breakin and at 4,500 miles

on both cars i am now doing 4,000 mile changes, half way between the 8,000 OBD interval

I guess I'm just gonna have to pay for more oil changes then?

I'm going to have a 1,200 mile oil change done, then at 5k, then every 5k forever and ever after that : )
Our MINI went in for the MINI maintenance oil change at the dealer today and this is what the reset to next service looks like? 13,000 miles or 1 of 2015 till the next oil service. Service is due for brakes, Why did they not change them?

Mine used to say 15k, but since I had it in for it's final 30k free oil change it says 9k. I had a problem with my satellite radio where it wouldn't change channels intermittently so they had a fix for that which required every system to be flashed. It took several hours and the service guy didn't say anything about the change. They're probably trying to slip this in under the radar so to reduce liability for prople that have oil related problems. I always changed mine once between the 15k intervals and I do mostly highway miles so I'm sure I'm fine.
