Any Regrets about your MINI Choices?
I didn't special order mine, I settled for the base model that was available through the dealer. I have been very happy that I made the decision to go MINI, however, I do wish I would have been more patient and ordered the exact one I wanted. While, the features are not that big of a deal for me really, I am not a person to make a big production over stuff like that, my biggest regret is getting the Manual transmission. I know lots of people that say it is the only way to go, and find pure joy in sliding through the gears (including my husband) but I just don't get it. I find it to be a huge hassle to constantly have a hand devoted to a shift and never being able to do anything else while driving. The stress of rolling back into other cars, it is all just maddening. I admit I still need practice, but I really think even if I was very skilled I would not find joy in it. I bought it because it was cheaper and in stock, but now I wish I would have waited for the auto tran.

. Now I really wish I had stuck with it because I think I was really starting to get better at shifting and I really loved the car.
No regrets, we ordered all of ours.
I'll amend that, I regretted getting the tires I did on Quentin, I think they were the all season runflats, they were horrible. That got me into replacing the tires, which was actually a good thing in the long run.

No regrets! My husband gave me my Mini S Coupe for Christmas and I adore it! It has a manual transmission and I actually can't believe how much I missed shifting (been over 20 years -- came back to me like riding a bike). Still trying to figure out why my ipod sounds crappy over the Harmon-Kardon speakers (mp4 incompatibility??) but I'll get that sorted out in due time.

What else do you want to do while you are driving? If we had more manual
transmissions on the road, less people would be using their cell phones and crashing in to other people. Thanks for being safe

Agreed! I hate to sound preachy (Okay, I don't care if i sound preachy.) but you aren't supposed to be "doing anything else" while driving. I learned manual on my car, and many times cursed my decision to sell my motorcycle and buy a car because I hadn't gotten the hang of it yet. Once you really figure out driving stick, which should not take a terribly long time, you will probably enjoy it. 99% of people who drive stick, enjoy driving stick. Good luck.
I wish we would have bought the auto-climate control, only because we find that the standard one has to coarse of adjustments for heat/cold (either to hot or to cold) and the fan speed only has 4 speeds...the lowest setting is to high.
Thanks about all.
Thanks about all.
Ok, I didn't mean it to sound that way. I absolutely have never used a phone while driving, do not eat while driving and now do not even listen to the radio while driving because of the distractions and needing to hear the engine sounds for the transmission. I have a perfect driving record and hope to keep it that way. But, simple things annoy me like controlling anything else in the vehicle, climate, windows, etc. I am in a city and it seems as if I cannot take my hand off the shift for more than two seconds. I get extremely frantic while driving because of this added stress. I have had my car since December and it isn't getting any easier. Sorry I am just very frustrated...
