From e46xi touring to R56 Cooper S

Hello All, Just wanted to introduce myself here. I just picked up a 09 R56 Cooper S with 30K that is going to replace a 01 BMW 325xi Touring with 190K. I'm not new to the tuning car scene. I work for an aftermarket BMW and Mini parts cataloger for 10 years. Before that I worked as an service advisor at a Audi and Porsche dealer. And as a parts counter man for VW, Mazda, Nissan, and Suzuki dealers.

So I went from this Jet Black 325xi Touring

to this...

I just sold my 2001 BMW 330i with 130K, and replaced with my new 2012 Justa, that I picked up last week. Saying goodbye to the Bimmer wasn't easy, but I knew it was time and I didn't want to make any more expensive repairs.

Having fun with my new MINI and am looking forward to a few repair-free years.

It will be hard to see the e46 go down the road. I'm debating if I should keep it to get thru the winter or unload it. It has it's share of issues still. I bought it back in Feb 2010 with 143K for $2K. I put over $3K and 50K miles on her since. So I feel I have gotten my moneys worth. I'm looking forward to owning a car with very little miles.

I was told by the other half that I can not go overboard with the add ons and mods on the MCS. I basically bought it to use as a fun commuter car. I'll be looking for either an e30 325is or e36 M3 in the spring for a fun car and track car.

Welcome aboard. I have an '04 330i with a 6-speed manual as well as the '12 Justacooper automatic. Both are great cars. The BMW is not the cheapest car to own but as long as one does stuff pre-emptively (like replacing the cooling system before it blows at 60-80k miles) it's reasonable to live with. BTW, I believe I get the catalog that your employer publishes. Great stuff there.

I highly endorse the idea of getting an E30 to play with.
