Mini!

Hey guys and gals! My name is Lissette and I'm from Miami Florida! Unfortunately, I do not own a Mini Cooper, YET.. But hopefully this forum along with a couple others will make the find a lot easier. I've also been lurkin' the site for tips and stuff.. I'll be posting in the classifieds section! I've got money saved up and I'm ready to pick up an S Coupe! If you guys have any suggestions or things I should be aware of, give me a heads up! I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you, and most of all, getting myself on the road in one of these!

I have 10k saved up, so if any of you are selling or know anyone who's selling a Mini Cooper S, please let me know!

Hey Lisette, Hope you find the Mini of your dreams. When looking for a pre-owned just do your homework. Check carfax's, look up pricing on both KBB.com and Edmunds. Also continue to use the forum as a reference. Once you find something that you think you might want to buy, post it back on the forum and ask for advice if the one that you find is the right one for the $$. Also, if it a option, consider going to another city to purchase. Charlotte NC where i live is a great market for pre-owned Mini's and the dealership here has had some great pre-owned vehicles for sale which are certified. Not sure if you if the $10,000.00 that you have saved is the total that you are wanting to spend or just use as a down payment. Rates are very low right now, and I am not sure what your budget is for monthly payment, but If it were me I would not put the entire $10,000.00 down. Though Mini's hold their value pretty well, vehicles are a depreciating asset, maybe consider half down. Again this will determine if you are trying to keep your monthly payment very low. Good luck in your search! You will love your Mini when you get it!

Thanks a lot for the response Eric. I've done loads of research on the damn car, I'm a MINI expert at this point, lol! Unfortunately, funds are tight, so looking in another state for cars would be difficult, unless the price is low enough and I can pay the towing fees. But if you do find something over there, send them my way and I'll definitely take a look. I'd prefer a private sale just to avoid any dealers fees and stuff.. I'm looking forward to your response! I really appreciate you help!

Found this, and I know someone who works in the dealership so they're going to be able to work something out. I just wanna know what you think about it! Looks great to me.

Again, thank you!
Lissette.

Earlier this summer I sold a 2003 MCS for $12,400 with a little over 28K miles on it so I think the price is a bit on the high side.

You can purchase a vehicle out of state and fly to the location, pick it up, and drive it home. Ironically enough, last week I did just that, flying from Maine to Miami, buying a 2006 MCS JCW and driving it 1600 miles home. Travel expenses were about $150 for a one-way flight and probably about $300 for the gas. The seller picked me up at the airport and we concluded our business at his credit union. Sometimes the cost of getting the vehicle a distance from you can be less overall if you can find a better deal.

You definitely have a point, but I also have school during the week and my mom works as well! So it would be kinda difficult to plan a date to go check out a car. But I'll definitely look into it. It would have to be quick though, I need a car soon! Thanks for your response, you guys are really helpful!
