Helloooooo!

Good morning, NAM. I'm a new NAM member and I'm taking a serious look at getting into a Cooper S. I'm currently in a quickly aging Subaru WRX STi. I'm gonna poke around for a few days and see if this is the right ride for me.

Welcome!

My boyfriend has a 2006 Saab 92x Aero, which is basically a WRX/STi in Saab's clothing. He loves his car, but he always says my justa Cooper is more fun to drive...

How does your Mini take to the snow? That is my main concern. I'm used to a car with front and rear LSD's and a driver controlled locking center diff. When I put snow tires on that thing she is unbeatable. I know that a Cooper S won't compare to the STi's grip, but I plan on putting some mean snow tires on mine if I decide to pull the trigger.

I personally don't drive mine in winter (100 miles a day adds up fast), I have a winter beater civic I don't care about to drive in that awful snow.

However, many many of the MINI club members drive them in the snow just fine. Good snow tires is all you need and you'll be good to go. Ground clearance is really the only issue, but I doubt your STi sits much higher. Search some threads :

To be honest, my MINI is probably better and safer in the snow than an '01 civic but I prefer to baby it.

There are 3 I am looking at Saturday. The 2011 and the JCW have my much of my attention, but there are some handsome used Cooper S's that I'll be ogling.

Yes'm. We'll see. Both cars have their pros and cons.
