First Timer -- All Pepper White MCCS
First Timer -- All Pepper White MCCS
Greetings Fellow Motorers:
Boy did I hear that a lot. Since I ordered by new MINI Cooper Clubman S on May 5th, I've been the compulsive checker, calling MINI at least daily to find out the status of my order. It seemed like it took forever (7 weeks in reality), especially when the ship carrying my car seemed to disappear off the coast of England, only to reappear a week later off the U.S. coast.
I picked it up yesterday and could not be happier. This is not my first new MINI. I was an early adopter back in 2002, when I purchased an R53. I loved it for nearly 9 years. When I started thinking about replacing it, I tried lots of cars -- Boxster, Miata, etc. My primary criteria was fun. I love to drive and the R55 reminded me of how much fun it can be.
My signature below tells you how my AllWhite came equipped. Since arrival, I've added rubber Cooper "S" floor mats (a boot mat is on order); a center console storage tray, OEM stubby antenna and sunshade, a lightinsight fresnel that allows one to see normally out-of-sight traffic lights more easily, a glove box organizer (I'm amazed the R55 has less space for little things than the R53), and rear seat pulls. On order are billet shift ***** and parking brake handle and leather boots. I also have a front strut brace and rear sway bar awaiting installation. Finally I got the cross bars for the roof rack and a bike rack.
I love the way it handles. I am surprised that the ride is in no way nearly as harsh as my R53 -- I thought about trading out the runflats to make the ride even better, but it's awfully good now, so I'll wait until they wear out. It's also much, much quieter. I also have the MINI connected w/Nav. It's not as intuitive as I would like, but with use almost anything can become second nature.
So, the thrill is here. Have to go.
