Hi there, new to the Mini community. My wife recently (very recently) purchased an 05 R50 5 speed, that she absolutely loves. It was time for us to change the trans fluid and after countless days searching all over the internet and, making phone calls, I believe I have found the solution to the 30 dollar bmw fluid. My source at BG products has told me that the fluid they use which compatible is none other than a synthetic GL-4 (75w-80-90) transmission/transaxle oil. Now of course they cant guarantee anybody else formula but said theirs is compatible. Hope this helps avoid some headaches and protect some wallets.
