First Mini 06 base automatic, trading already!!

[FONT=Segoe Print][SIZE=4][FONT=Times New Roman][SIZE=3]Well, I got my first Mini a month ago and wish I had gone with the "S". The one I got was a compromise so the wife could drive it, 06 base with the automatic. I have read some articles about the problems the CVTs have and that has me a little worried. Has anyone here had issues with their CVT transmissions ?
The car is great so far and I am pleased with the ride and fuel mileage. The other issue I have with the car is the poor radio reception, anyone have any ideas what this could be ? It does have an Alpine stereo someone installed, I was never an Alpine fan but that's what I have to work with.
I didn't realize there was a "Cooper Wave" either. Well, I also own a Jeep Wrangler and anyone who owns a Wrangler knows about that. Now when I drive my wife's Oldsmobile Olero I wave at other Oldsmobile's and get a confused look back at me ???
I'm looking forward to poking through the posts and gathering ideas and information and hope to be able to contribute some useful information too. Thanks in advance for any help with my concerns/questions.

I don't have any personal experience with the CVT, but just from the threads I've read here, I'd stay on the safe side and get rid of it if I were you. I have an '06 Justa with the Getrag manual and it's great, but by all accounts that CVT auto is a ticking time bomb. If you plan to keep it, get that fluid changed and keep on top of it. Search "CVT" and there are many threads. Good luck!

I had an 06 CVT. It made it 116k before it went out. It was intermittently failing (lucky, most of the time they just crap out with no warning) and I was able to trade it in before it got too bad. I would say, as much as I loved mine, to trade it...it's just heartbreak waiting to happen. IF it goes it's a $7500 repair.
