Sold my bike, ordered a Mini S

I just want to say hi to everyone. I look forward to picking everybody's brains for performance advice, concerning my car of course. :-)

I just sold a 2009 Harley Davidson Road King and ordered a Mini S. I'm psyched! This will actually be the first new car that I will ever have owned. I've always loved driving and I know this is the right car for me.

The bike thing was OK, but the road conditions in and around NY have really gotten very bad for riding. Besides that there are too many people out there trying to kill riders, whether they just don't pay attention or because they couldn't care less. It's freakin, fruckin, dangerous out there on a bike. What really sold me on the car idea is the larger amount of freedom I'll have, especially if the weather turns bad.

Catch you on the forum.

Peace...Robert!

Welcome! I too loved riding bikes, but you're right. Most folks just don't pay attention as they're to busy texting or talking on their cells.. In fact I drive my MINI like I ride a bike.

Welcome! I sold my CBR600 to get my MINI, for the same reasons. Riding in the rain sucks, no one can drive, and too many close calls. Even crashed a few bikes. I have as much fun in the Cooper, and I hardly ever miss the power to weight ratio.. sometimes though

I know what you mean about road conditions. I was in NYC last fall, and even though I only weigh 150, I bottomed out the front forks of my Road King in a pothole. That sucker was deep. Anyway, welcome to the forum! You're going to enjoy the Mini. It's the most fun driving I've ever done off a bike.

the bad news -- the Mini will be slower in acceleration than most bikes...

the good news -- the Mini will safely corner where very few riders dare to tread, and brake harder than most riders can easily achieve

the best news -- the Mini will save yer butt in situations where a bike can't!

Cheers,

Charlie

Very true! I do miss being able to toast anything on four wheels off the line on my $4k bike, hah. However, gravel in a corner is no longer a potential death sentence. Good trade off.
