Newly adopted 2005 Cabrio - shift **** top replacement

Hi!

Happy to be a new Mini owner! Now if it would just warm up enough to put the top down.

The leather on my stock shift **** is worn, so I found a used replacement OEM **** online. Unfortunately the emblem on top is for the 6 speed while mine is a 5 speed. I see online that the emblem is replaceable, but I haven't figured out how to remove it. Has anyone done this and can explain how?

Thanks!

It's not really meant to be replaced. You can peel the top clear part off and some people make a domed part to go in. But I don't think you'll be able to swap them without damaging them both.

Moss, Mini Mania, etc sell a british flag or checker board style replacment emblem with 5 or 6 speed gear pattern designs. They run about 15 bucks. The instructions will tell you to carefully remove it from the edge. Dont do it. If you try to remove it by pealing it off from the top, 99% sure you will damage the chrome trim. Trust me, I damaged mine. From the inside, look for small slots. Take a very small pocket style flat screw driver and push it up from the inside. The exhisting emblem will probibly break while doing it but, all will be covered by the new emblem. Good luck.
