How's it going guys. I am in the market for a "new to me" Mini Cooper S. I am looking to pick up a fun and sensible daily driver, debated buying a diesel VW but after driving it, the 40+ mpg was not worth the lack of passion that the car had. I felt that I would be better off on a bicycle. My wife and I had an 04 Mini that we bought new, loved the car, owned it for 2 years, but started a family and traded the Mini for the Mini-van (which we still have). I have been looking at lots of cars, trying to find something that I will enjoy owning, and will be more practical to drive daily than my Z06. I currently have a 600hp 2006 Z06 with cam, e85 tune, etc…that I use as my daily driver. Love the car, have no issues driving it daily…but I am putting too many miles on it, tires are expensive, depreciation is killer with miles, and E85 is kind of a pain to find. So I have finally landed on the Mini as my choice of cars, so I am in the market for a clean, well maintained S, that I can enjoy and drive. The Mini groups have always been full of good people, which is an excellent advantage to the car. My wife is also a Mini lover, so we will hopefully participate in some upcoming local events once we land on the right car.

I just wanted to stop in, say hello, and hopefully I will find a "new to me" Mini that will allow myself and my family to enjoy again.

I'm from Houston but I currently live in El Paso. I just traded in my PW/B 2010 MCS hardtop with less than 8,000 miles on it. It had Harmon Kardon, Sport Package/sport suspension, Bi-xenons, Limited Slip differential, armrest, fog lights front/rear, and not much more. That was on 12-14 so I don't know if they still have it. It was garaged kept since I got it in 02-2010 and was in great condition. I'm sure there are others out there similar to this one.

You wouldn't happen to be the same Scott Allen that went to Cy Fair and Bear Creek BC in the '80s, would you?

Nope, I'm from San Diego originally...so that's not me. I am already registered on HMMS, not a lot of life on there currently....maybe the holidays are keeping it slow, but I have not seen much posting on there. Hoping to be an owner and not a shopper here soon.

 

No the HMMS site is not strong on quantity - but always has something going on MINI. In January we have four events and there is a HPDE track day on the only open week end.
