Looking to get a MINI

Hello, I am in the Detroit area and am looking to get my first mini. I had a couple of questions

1. Is a cooper s worth the extra money?

2. Would you rather get a 2006 Cooper s or a 2007 Copper

thanks for all your input in advance!!

And also, Ive been offered a 2010 Cooper S laser blue STEPTRONIC with Premium package and cold weather package BRAND NEW for 23,000 is that a good deal?

Welcome aboard! Now that you're seriously looking, it's only a matter of time before one finds its way to your driveway.

As to your first question, well, you'll get a bunch of different answers. My personal opinion is: HELL YES! "Justa's" are great cars, and w/a stick you can have a blast, especially in the twisties. But, you get a turbo or supercharger spooled up & extra horses are addicting.

To the second question, I'd go '06. First, '05/'06 is widely considered the sweet spot of the first gen cars. Second, the supercharger whine & burble of the exhaust of first gen S's are two of the sweetest manmade sounds. And third, the first year of a new release tend to have more issues. If you like the second gen cars you might wanna look at '08 or '09.

I'd check KBB.com or Edmunds to see what the '10 goes for spec'd as you noted, and also AutoTrader.com to see what similar cars are being offered for in your area.

Good luck!

Yes to the S! I think its what makes the mini! The whine is awsome on the supercharger and is much more fun to drive! I think the supercharger is less to worry about than a turbo but they are both fun. You should drive them both and see what you like better. I prefer a 6 speed to anything when it comes to sporty cars, you get tons better response. M7 tuning has paddle shifters you can add to your 6 speed if you dont like to shift, they are pretty sweet. Yes to the S and for the rest its just about what you like.
