i will have my mini one week tomorrow, and i'm loving it! it's probably the best car i have ever bought! what i didn't purchase was the maintenance plan. my friend who owns a mini, said he purchased the plan two years later; they called him just when his 3yr warrantee was almost over.

can i get into a maintenance plan two years down the road? is it worth getting into one? how much do they often cost? can i just stay with my mechanic--who is very good?

 

there are two plans - the maintenance and warranty. the maintenance on the mini does end at 3 years or 36k miles. while the limited warranty ends at 4 years or 50k miles. when you purchase your mini, you do not need to buy either extended plans right away - don't be pressured to do so. you can shop around and buy it during your mini ownership. this will allow you to see other options like going to indy shops.
