87 or 91?

my mini motoring advisor said 87 is the action. I know that there are many blogs around this topic. Any of you veteran mini gurus with any advice? I drive round trip 120 miles a day and am looking for maximum MPG.

Thanks for all the kind responses, this is fun!
James

Welcome to the forum, you may save some money with 87 and some claim no problems running it, but mileage and performance will be better with 91 and the possibiity of long term reliability will be overcome. If you like gambling go the 87 route, if not pay the extra for 91.

JamesFreeman: Is your MINI a S? If so, you will lose both power and MPG using less than 91. The MCS runs best on 93, but it is getting hard to find in many states.
