Hello all

It looks like this is going to be a important site after buying a 04 cooper that seems to have allot of the common age/wear problems at 77k. No clue of the maintenance history.

I bought it the car in the beginning of august with a 2yr/24k power-train warranty. About 10 days later the rear left wheel bearing is on its way out (ordered). The power steering whines when car sits still (fan check and possible ps pump cleaning coming up soon). Control arm bushings are very worn and cracked. Oil was less than a inch on the dipstick with no warning light (maybe its normal, topped it off anyway) with 4500 miles on computer till change. But really, from the dealer? Wow.

Hopefully the I wont find more problems the more I look. Thankfully its still warm out, I'm handy and have found a great community with loads of advice.

Eh, the waving thing is a bit beyond me, even if I know you. Nothing personal but the time in my car is golden and alone time. The same reason i wanted something nice.

I read a few articles about busted bushings and New Hampshire inspection laws. They should not pass in their condition. I have dealt with quite a few used car stealerships in the state that give a not-so-through once over (they passed it with side markers out also) so I am going in to gripe tomorrow and will get them replaced.
