First Mini!

Hey Everyone,

After riding sportbikes exclusively for several years, I finally decided I should grow up and get a four wheeled vehicle. At 27 I purchased by first car, a 2006 Mini Cooper. I was looking at preludes, mustangs, integras etc, but after taking the Mini for a test drive I was sold. It has the peppy responsive handling I love in my Honda CBR with all the safety and practicality of a car.

I lucked out and found a great deal, and it has only 30,000km on the odometer. I'm glad there is an active community where I can meet some fellow Mini owners and hopefully get some advice.

I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out exactly which option packages I have. I am pretty certain it does have the Premium Package, and I'd say it has the Sport Package as well, because it does have the Run Flats, xenon headlights, hood stripes, and anti-skid system, but there are no headlight washers and it is a Base model. It could be the Checkmate packages, except I have the Leatherette seats. Anyone able to help me clarify this stuff?

In any case, I'm very happy with my new purchase. My friends and girlfriend were pretty surprised with my choice, but after getting inside, understood what a great little car it is!

Cheers from Victoria, BC

Dan

Welcome Dan. I'm in a similar boat, owned sportbikes for a long time and felt the Mini was just a logical 4 wheel choice when I'm not riding. My friends didn't understand why I got rid of my truck for a "Matchbox car" but until you drive it, you just don't understand.

Good luck finding out exactly what options you have. One thing you might try is contacting your local dealer with your VIN and they be able to provide something for you.

Yeah, I was skeptical when the dealer suggested it, but after getting in I changed my mind pretty quick! Definitely a good fun replacement for the bike. No more riding in the rain Thanks for the tip, I will give them a call and see if they can track down some details for me.

Yeah know you will miss the bike on nice days, but the roof over your head with some good road manners will be worth it when it's dreary out.

Yep, I've definitely had lots of fun on the bike, and it's always a blast leaving everyone in the dust! A few crashes and close calls make it a bit easier to hang it up, though. Id like to pick up a dirtbike or a supermoto maybe next year, but riding in traffic is more trouble than it's worth! After reading this board a bit, I sure wish I'd had the opportunity to get the "S"!

Can anyone recommend some worthwhile performance mods for the Base model?
