Valve Adjustment Technique & Interval

I've been considering the purchase of a used Mini for some time now and have been concerned about maintenance costs. I'm very mechanically inclined and am guessing most service could be done by myself. I've searched high and low, but haven't been able to determine how the valves are adjusted or at what interval. I'm guessing it's a shims and buckets design. If so, that would make things more difficult since the closest dealer here in Ohio appears to be approx. 60 miles away. I watched a video on YouTube that contained an x-ray view drawing of the engine, but it was too small to determine how the valve adjustment is made.

Also, are the valve cover and spark plug tube gaskets reusable or do they need replaced at removal of the valve cover?

Thanks,
Jim in NE OH

The valves are hydraulic. There's no manual adjustment.
