I just bought a 2003 mini cooper s, it has 56000 miles on it. Are there any things I need to be aware of, to ensure this car keeps me? thanks.

Welcome to the forum, if you don't have any of the past history on the car I would pull a Carfax to make sure the it's clean in the accident area. Then I would take it to a MINI competent mechanic and have them check it out, they might catch something waiting to happen and will able to give you advice as to what sevicing it needs.

I just bought a 2003 Cooper S last weekend. BensMini is right, take it to a good mechanic and have it looked over. Good luck with your mini!!

Just keep up on regular maintenance and you will be fine. 03's had a leaky coolant tank, if yours is white, then you need to take it in and get it replaced (should be free). Probably about time for a new serpentine belt, and possibly brakes. A thorough look over by you or a mechanic would be a good idea.

yup my best advice is GTFO the internet and drive! lol

but seriously, I think you can get a maintainance schedule from Minis website if your car doesnt have one with the manual.
Id just want to be sure that fluids and general maintanance things are taken care of at least by Minis specs.

Stuff like coolant and brake fluid, though im not sure if your even to that point yet

Also get some strut tower defenders, to prevent mushrooming towers and cracked strut mounts if you live in a pothole hell of a place. Just discovered mine went bad... But welcome and enjoy the car.

Step 1:
Find a twisty back road.
Step 2:
Floor it.
Step 3:
Enjoy.
Step 4:
Lather (as in wash the car), rinse, repeat.

Thanks so much for the feedback guys, the BMW dealer around town was closed over the weekend, will take it in early next week. Drove the thing for 700 miles straight, was such a blast through the tunnels in pensylvania. Freaked me out when it run the fans after turning it off though, is it to cool the supercharger??
