Need help becoming a MINI family

Hi all,

I need some aid in shopping for my father-in-law's MINI purchase this wednesday. He'll be buying new this week, and I'm helping him (hopefully) get a good deal.

I'm on here hoping to get some MINI shopping tips...info on how to help him get the best deal (He'll be paying cash, though I might convince them to take the 1.9% financing offer).

Edmunds is saying that people are paying MSRP for MINIs right now...but I'm not sure.

He's currently scoped with:

Sparking Silver, Carbon Punch Leather, Sunroof, Cold Weather Package, White turn signals, 17" Web Spokes, Center Arm Rest, Anthracite Headliner, JCW Bonnet Scoop, Black Sport Stripes, and JCW Shift ****:

$28,880

....

Is it possible to get MINI dealers to provide a deal of maybe $1-2k or even 3k off, with an end-of-month purchase in March and with the offer of either cash or 1.9% financing?

Thanks all,

Joe

If you do a search you will find many threads about this topic. Usually dealerships don't deeply discount. When I asked a dealership about a $3,000 discount I was told "to get real and come back when I can discuss a reasonable price." In the end I got $1,000 off. Most posters indicate better discounts with loaded minis or the JCW. Some people get free stripes or floor mats. Expect very little wiggle room, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Best of luck.

When I got my MINI they threw in free floor mats, but when I asked about a discount they said that they didn't give them for cars that they had to order and that with cars on the lot there was very little negotiating due to their high demand.

MINI discounts are possible but the best you could hope for is probably $1000, for sure forget the $3000. If you order maybe $500, Now if you live someplace like SLC with only 1 local dealer and the nearest competitors in Vegas and Denver, you will be lucky to get the floor mats. It of course goes without saying you should ask for a discount, but don't be surprised if the answer is "no way". If there are multiple dealers in your area you have a chance.
