Hello from Kamloops, British Columbia.
We (my wife and I) are seriously considering buy a low kilometer 2005 Cooper base model with an automatic transmission but before making the commitment I need to have a better understanding of the car. First, does it really cost $300 just for an oil change? Two, is the back seat functional? And three, is the car generally considered reliable?
I would appreciate any feed back.
Regards,
Christian

Reliable as a Camry or Accord? Probably not. Practical reliabilty yes, it's fine. I don't think you will have any more problems with a MINI than most other vehicles. Take good care of it and I think you will be happy.
I would research the 05 mini some more some of the early models had problems with trans. that would cost big bucks
. I don't know if it was the 06 mini or what . research
. Soory but mine i purchased new and no problems !
