Hola all.

I currently drive a 2008 Subaru WRX STI but I am seriously debating selling it and picking up a Mini. I like the 2nd gen mini cooper s, but I will probably look around a bit first before making a decision.

Does anyone have any pointers? Any kind of things to look for while searching for a used mini?

Why used? Step and buy new and get it equipped just the way you want and the right color. Make yourself happy

I would, but the main reason I am selling my STI and buying a MINI is so I don't have to worry about having a car payment any more.

I'd love to go get one of the John Cooper Works MINI's, but its just not in the cards. ^_^ Plus buying new just isn't really worth it to me. ^_^

I here you on not buying new - I haven't done that in a long time - like you said just not worth it to me - I am assuming that you like the turbo in lieu of the supercharger on the 1st gen MINIs. I was in the same boat as you a few weeks ago - but I wanted the super charged version instead. I found a loaded (every option) 06 S with 30K for a good deal. If you aren't set on a 2nd gen - you will be able to find a JCW that might fit your price range (look for 06)

good luck

yea, I haven't really narrowed it down to any year yet. I like the turbo models, but they are a bit more expensive. I'm trying to keep it on or under $15k(or close to it) so I will most likely get a supercharged model.

The main thing that got me interested in these was the gas mileage, but I don't see myself being satisfied with a regular Cooper!

I can't seem to find many JCW Cooper's out there. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places?

JCW Cooper's go for top $$$$$$. I find my go-kart ride is fine with just a cooper and has great MPG . You need to test drive one and see !

Yea, I drove a couple 03 Cooper S's yesterday and they were ok. I want to try out a R56 though since I think thats what I will end up buying. The only base Cooper they had in the next town over was in bad shape, the hood pop was broken pretty bad, Drivers side speaker had a hole in it, and the thing wouldn't start for the longest time! I need to find one thats not beat up! lol.
