I love this car!
Last Monday I traded in a 2009 Nissan Altima Coupe for a 2008 Clubman JCW.
I never felt like I belonged in the Nissan. On top of that it was an automatic. This was my first automatic and I thought it would be OK. Boy, was I wrong!
So I started looking for different options. It had to be a car which I would love to drive and it had to be a manual. Then I noticed the MINI Cooper, did a bit more research, searching car sites, ... . Finally came across a Clubman JCW, which seemed to be a good deal, plus it had all the options I wanted.
I love driving this car, it handles well and it has good pickup, even in non-sport mode. Gas mileage seems to be OK as well (31mpg), although I have not driven it that much yet.

Thanks everyone for making me feel welcome
This forum is great, there is tons of information. I've been reading quite a bit the last couple of days. Now I need to start posting more.

I've been looking at aftermarket websites. They usually get me in trouble, I don't think I own a car that is still stock from the factory.
It'll be difficult to refrain from modifying too much. I already have one car that I can't drive on the street anymore, but it is a blast on the track.
That would be a long trip. According to google maps 2,185miles in about 1 day and 12 hours non stop. I've never been to Vegas though...

Once you've had a mini you can't go back and if you try you will regret it and you will come back...i know as it happened to me...welcome to the family.
Owning your mini from the factory is the way to go...then you will break it in the right way and enjoy it FOREVER......... :D

If you think you like your car now, you really need to hook up with the Tar Heel MINI guys. They are a blast and have some really great events. I travel down to Carolina 4 or 5 times a year for their events. You won't regret it at all. They are some fantastic folks. Here's their site http://www.tarheelminis.org/
