New and ecstatic owner
Hello all! I am the proud papa of a 2007 S model hardtop. To give a little background, I have been wanting one of these fellows since I was 16 ( I am considerably older now). I first saw one when I was 16 and detailing cars during the summer. It was a '60s S model, and the owner kept it mechanically like a swiss watch, but never made time to bathe it. That's where I came in. Got to drive it on a fairly regular basis to and from the house for its bath, and needless to say I WAS HOOKED! Then one day the owner told me about the original version of "The Italian Job" movie and really made me jones for one. I was horrified in 2000 when I found out production was coming to an end, but then when BMW announced they were going to pick up the torch, I was delighted.
Fast forward to this year, I finally decided that enough with the looking and time for the buying. I hunted high and low, because I wanted an S model with the automatic transmission. Everyone has been asking my why, but that's an easy one to answer. No clutch, steering wheel paddles, the lazy man's "D" when I am tired, who could ask for more? So, with the help of a very determined salesperson (major kudos to John Harper, Global Imports MINI, Atlanta, GA) I found my baby. And in the classic red with white roof and stripes to boot!
So, here we are, at the beginning of what I hope to be many happy miles down the road!
