1962 Mini Stn Wgn
1962 Mini Stn Wgn
I hve inherited an unrestored 1962 Mini Stn Wgn along with boxes & boxes of parts and I'm somewhat at a loss as to where to start. Keeping in mind I'm on the wrong side of 60 and female with a background in home economics I'm looking for any advice I can get.
welcome to the madness that is classic Mini ownership. First thing that would help would be to have an idea where you are at. There are many classic owners throughout the country who are exceptionally helpful. Many will be willing to help with the car directly or at the very least point you to someone who can.
What are your thoughts on the car? Mini's are easy to work on even for a complete novice (speaking from experience
) If your thoughts are to sell, prices on classic are off a bit due to the economy the the wagons have become more popular of late (especially unmolested examples.)
Drop me a PM if you would like to talk more (I could likely point you to someone that may be able to help out.)
Also we all would love to see pictures of the "new" car

Good Luck!!
Using a fully illustrated catalog can go a long way to help you identify the parts in all those boxes. And, don't worry about your age, it simply makes you smarter and will ensure you end up with a great Mini!

The boxes did include books so shall have to check those out - I'm in BC and while I have met some enthusiasts - they all seem to have projects of their own that discourage taking on another!
I must be honest - the mechanics of it all I find scary but I can hardly wait for the "make it pretty" part so I guess the starting point will be sorting the boxes and hopefully identifying those mystery pieces. I'll take some photos and you can see my dilemma.
