New Mini Cooper S owner (SOON!) - Advice needed!

Hey everyone, I posted sometime back in 2008 because I thought I would be getting a new Clubman upon the sale of my beloved 2002 collector edition Trans Am convertible, but the sale never happened. However, the Trans Am is now on eBay and auction is almost up (ends on Saturday), and I've test driven and fallen in love with the Cooper S. The dealer had it listed for $25,600, then they "put it on sale" for $23,600. I offered $22,000 and they counter-offered $22,500. They're claiming the 0.9% special financing offer ends tomorrow, but I talked to another dealer that said MINI is extending it to August. This Cooper S I'm looking at is pretty stripped down... the only options are Laser Blue paint and Xenon headlights (which I really don't care about to being with, but they said they can't take them off). Assumming the special financing offer will continue through August, I'll probably try and make them sweat it out to get them closer to $22,000. What do you guys think? Is $22,000 a good price for a mostly stripped Cooper S? Hope to join the fold soon! I like how nice everyone is on this forum. I'll miss the raw power and speed of my Trans Am, but the refinements of the Mini would be a very welcome addition to my life

Thanks in advance!

You New MINI Cooper S

I can understand how excited you are about getting an MCS. My own experitnce was this. I bought 2006 MINI Cooper that had absolutely nothing on it. I loved the car but thought it was a little too sparse. After a year I traded it for 2007 MCS that was pretty much loaded with convience features. Cruise, Moonroof, auto air. I can tell you that I am more than pleased with the MCS even though it has a lot more miles than the MC. I think that unless you are only interested in performance and not comfort, don't go with the stripped MCS. You might be happier with a used one with some options.

Yeah, I've looked at the options that interest me and calculated it all out and it would only cost me around an extra $30 a month.... I think you may be right. I'll have to take it all into consideration. Thanks for the reply!

Can anyone verify the actual end date of special financing?
